Apologies, Allan is correct. Just checked my database of seen ships and for some reason I had it down as seen in 1981 whereas the photo was dated 1993. I thought that past 30 years flew by. :-))
She also had Manchester as her homeport.

Bob

Hi Guys

Not sure about the Itchen when brand new, she was built for service on the Manchester Ship Canal and only moved south around 1990. Towed to breakers in Ghent by tug MTS Vengeance on Tuesday 19th July after long lay-up at Marchwood. Don't forget her moment of notoriety in 2003 when she almost cut Hythe Pier in two - not helped by the guy in charge having consumed 6 pints of lager before setting sail.

Could well be true Bob in which case I'm glad I caught her when I did.

I read somewhere recently that she has gone to the breakers in Belgium. That makes me feel old because I saw her on the Itchen when she was brand new :-((
