Description:
The ship Ship Juan Sebastian Elcano is a four-masted schooner (White, Almansa, Asturias and Nautilus) whose names match training ships that preceded it. Launched in Cadiz on March 5, 1927, was his godmother Carmen Primo de Rivera, daughter of Prime Minister Miguel Primo de Rivera. The company designed the Larrinaga Echevarrieta and helmet. The sculptor Federico Saenz Venturini made the figurehead of the ship and other sizes. The English designer Nicholson designed the candles were made by Ratsey Isapthone of Gosport. Had its auxiliary diesel engine of 800 horses. The Princess Beatrice, daughter of King Alfonso XIII presented the battle flag in 1928, the year also the vessel made its maiden voyage from Cadiz to Malaga, landing the King to go to the Universal Exposition in Seville. It usually takes 22 days on trips to America, with different scales and nine months to circumnavigate the world. Has a length of 113.1 m, 13.1 wide, 7 draft, reaching a speed of 16.5 knots, enjoying a range of 1200 to 17 knots. It can accommodate a crew of 257 people. Carries two 47mm cannons.
