Description:

After having spent a whole day at the Hamburg-Finkenwerder moorings, PINE BRIDGE is seen here, reversing upriver on the Elbe on Sun, November 27th 2005. Strong and extremely cold easterly winds made docking impossible on Saturday and so PINE BRIDGE is a day behind schedule. Assisted by two Koren tugs, the virtually empty ship will maneuver right into the city center and eventually dock at Blohm+Voss’ Elbe17 drydock. By the way: Yours truly was due for some heavy de-icing after having spent half an our on top of the icicle-hung lighthouse beacon at the mouth of the Finkenwerder-Rüschkanal. Darn! Where are those St. Bernard Dogs when you really need them!?

Thank you for complimenting, Willem. I wonder, if the ship is to be sold, or if she suffered some kind of engine failure: She looks freshly painted and as far as I know, PINE BRIDGE had already drydocked quite recenty. So this does not look like a scheduled routine maintenance job to me. Does anyone know?
