Chris, agree that it is all about money. In the case of the IOWAs, at least the USN could re-use the guns. In the case of the KIROV-class cruisers, I fear that they will basically have to replace ALL the weapons and electronics.

It just comes down to money.

The Iowa class battleships of the USN with the exception of New Jersey spent over 25 years laid up,before being reactivated in 1980's.

Oleg, a million thanks for posting these rare photos of laid up Russian warships. Seeing the state that this ship is in really makes one question the plans to return this ship (and of her sisters) to service!
