Description:

The 1960 Govan built SEA RELIANCE was photographed passing Cuxhaven in 1981 by Gerhard Fiebiger. Only recently purchased by Inter Douglas S.A. (Globalbridge Limited of London - N.K.Banthia & S.M.Zubayr), who also purchased in 1981 the SOUTHDENE (ex EGIDIA ex AVISFAITH), she was the ex-BORDABEKOA, ex- Bibby Line's YORKSHIRE-71, and was beached at Alang on 1.5.84 to be broken up.

Shot must be dated July 25,1981 when vessel left Hamburg for Alexandria. She passed pilot station Finkenwerder only 10 minutes before grounding of MT AFRAN ZENITH,IMO 7129611, built 1972, when her engines did not properly restart after pilot exchange. She was ripped and causing biggest oil spill ever in the River Elbe. Several tugs managed to refloat her before falling tide could cause even more damage to the tanker. After traffic was re-opened rush of ships left the port with one other British product amongst, 1958 at Doxford,Sunderland built VICTORY FIVE ex Harpagus,IMO 5143120
