Description:

The Panamanian freighter RUBEN (Ex DELIA) ran aground on the beach of Seignosse (Landes-France), after the terrible storm of 2-3 December 1976. Here is she, a few months later, photographed by my friend Gilbert Saint-Guirons, awaiting his fate. A company from Vendée (Ets Voisin) will buy the wreck and successfully refloat her on August 1, 1977. The ship will stay a few months in Bayonne and will unfortunately be sold for scrap. The RUBEN was broken up in 1978 in Zumaya, Guizpuscoa, Spain.

A little add she was on route from Bayonee to Dunkirk in ballast ,when her master decided to call at Pasajes due to severe weather condition. However fire broke out on board in the Bay of Biscay off the french coast.
