Allision in Brake.
In the afternoon of Jan 15, 2018, at 2.30 p.m. the "Peikko" allided with two other ships at the pier in the port of Brake, Wesermarsch municipality. The 55 year old master had tried to shift berths afer unloading operations in port had been completed, but misjudged the tide currents and wind conditions. The vessel hit the bulkcarrier "Aracari Arrow (IMO: 9008706) and the tug "Mistral" (IMO: 6923888) which were both moored at the pier. The bulkcarrier suffered such significant damage that it was detained in port. The hull of the "Peikko" had suffered a breach which had to be welded. The ship was allowed to leave towards Aarhus in the night hours at 7.30 p.m. The police launched an investigation against the master. The bulkcarrier finally left Brake towards Rouen on Jan 16 at 2.15 p.m., ETA Jan 18, 5 p.m. The "Peikko" was transiting the Kiel Canal the same afternoon, ETA Aarhus Jan 17 at noon. The "Mistral" left the Brake pier at 4 p.m. and dropped anchor on Blexen Roads on the Weser.
