The vessel



The Gallant ran as a logger sail in 1916 under the name 'Margaret Jannetje "of pile in the yard of the brothers Figee in Vlaardingen. The ship was built without an engine and served as a herring boat in the North Sea. In 1926 the ship was sold to Denmark, where an engine was built. It was used to stone them to fish and was named Gertrud. In 1987 the Foundation bought the Gallant Sailing the ship and in the context of a training and work experience project for young people from Amsterdam was completely restored and testified to two mast-gaffeltopzeilschoener. From 1993 the Gallant sail as a passenger ship and a sail-training ship in all its former glory in the North Sea, Baltic Sea and the English Channel.
