Searchers found in a concealed compartment 30kg of cocaine and 46kg of cannabis, along with firearms, grenades and ammunition, prosecutors alleged in a 30 September indictment. The seafarers face up to a decade in prison if convicted on multiple charges of drug possession, trafficking and arms importation, the newspaper Kaieteur News reported. According to the Stabroek News, a Guyanese newspaper, the owner of Vicky B is understood to have gone into hiding. A Guyanese football promoter and his wife have also been arrested in St Lucia and charged with firearms offences. Police are investigating possible links between them and the indicted crew.
