ZAR ex. Madonna, ex. Else Dorthea Baker, ex. Mercantic II, ex. Talata
Three-masted topsail schooner with a hunting bow and a round stern. The vessel was built for master N. Christensen, Ronne and baptized KARIS. However, the name was recorded, and the ship was instead the name Talata. It was rigged as a ketch. The ship measured approx. 100 GRT and had a carrying capacity of 175 tons. As Christensen died in 1947, the vessel was taken over by his widow.

In 1961 the ship was sold to master NO Christensen, Svendborg and in 1962 sold for master Christian Møller, Frederiksværk and down rigged motor hunting.

In 1975, Talata sold to Partner Per Henriksen (Mercandia Company), rebuilt and called Mercantic II used for representing and charter sailing.

The ship was later flag next to the U.S. and sailed in the 1980's under the name JACQUELINE of Richmond. In 1996 sold Mercandia Company ship which again got Danish flag, now as MADONNA.

Since 2000, the ship was owned by Carlsberg Group, until in 2010 it was sold back to the Henriksen family and renamed the ZAR.

The ship was as ELSE DORTHEA BAKER declared worthy of preservation first time in 1992. Today, the ship is owned by the widow of MERCANDIA companies who previously own the ship.
