Kühlschiff "Gladstone Star"
Der Bremer Vulkan in Bremen-Vegesack schickt heute das für die Blue Star Line Ltd., London, gebaute Motorschiff "Gladstone Star" auf Probefahrt. Der 12.400 t tragende Neubau wird wie das Schwesterschiff "Canberra Star" in Hamilton/Bermuda registriert und soll in Regie der Salient Shipping Co., Ltd., Bermuda, fahren. Das Schiff ist 143,2 m zwischen den Loten lang, 21,3 m breit und geht 9,2 m tief. Ein 11.250 PS leistender MAN-Diesel ermöglicht 17,5 Knoten Geschwindigkeit. Die "Gladstone Star" ist mit Kühleinrichtung für den Transport von Nahrungsmitteln von Australien nach England versehen, jedoch sollen ausgehend auch industrielle Erzeugnisse und Kraftfahrzeuge von England nach Australien befördert werden. Die "Gladstone Star" ist das vierte Kühlschiff für die Blue Star Line. Eine fünfte Einheit dieses Typs wird auf dem Bremer Vulkan zur Zeit ausgerüstet und soll noch in diesem Jahre abgeliefert werden." ---

The Bremer Vulkan in Bremen-Vegesack sent today for the Blue Star Line Ltd., London, built motor ship "Gladstone Star" on test drive. The 12,400 t supporting construction as the sister ship "Canberra Star" registered in Hamilton / Bermuda and is managed by the Salient Shipping Co., Ltd., Bermuda. The ship is 143.2 meters between perpendiculars long, 21.3 meters wide and is 9.2 meters deep. A 11,250 hp MAN Diesel allows 17.5 knots. The "Gladstone Star" is provided with reefer holds for the transportation of food from Australia to England, however, eastbound industrial products and motor vehicles of England transported to Australia. The "Gladstone Star" is the fourth reefer for Blue Star Line. A fifth unit of this type is equipped on the Bremer Vulkan and the time is still to be delivered this year."

Most interesting - many thanks for posting

GLADSTONE STAR had arrived at Hamburg on 16th June 1982 from Rio de Janiero; by 27th July, as GLADYS, she was sailing from Bremen for Bombay, arriving on 11th September and a month or so later beached near Karachi for breaking
