I think you could say that Japanese yards were bringing out some very innovative cargo handling designs for semi container ships at this time.

@ Denis,,this is not STULCKEN or kind of similar, this one is easy swung by eletronic guy-tackles (not sure if this is the real english term, german is "geien") it turns in a pivot and circles, Stulcken sits also in a pivot and circles , but the top has also a swivel where the runner is heaved up all the way, block to block,,then the whole derrick is brought straight up and then swung over to the other side. then the runner slacked again and bingo it,s on the other side. (hope got it all right from my memory from over 30 years back)

And I still wonder how do they swing those HLDs to operate both holds..?
