Description:

Fort George is the former Norsland which was under arrest in Montréal during the summer of 1971. In September that year, sold to Agence Maritime Inc of Québec City and renamed Fort George. Later on, in 1973 or 1974, Agence Maritime was acquired by Logistec Navigation. The ship kept the same name.

Thanks for posting! Very interesting to see this ship in such a good shape. She is almost identical to the four ships built by Deutsche Werft A.G., Hamburg-Finkenwerder for Sloman (SLOMAN MESSINA/VALENCIA/PALERMO/ALGIER. They were eqipped with twin 2SA 6Cy. MAN diesel engines rated at 1.200bhp each, geared to sc.shaft.

NORRLAND (yard no. 759) was built in 1951 by Stuelcken-Werft, Hamburg (not Blohm & Voss), together with sister SVEALAND (yard no. 758) for Mathies-Reederei, Hamburg. They where part of the reconstruction program of the postwar german merchant navy, with restrictions in GRT, length, engine etc and developed on basis of the (pre)war-HANSA-program.
