One of a group of British built reefers, which were under construction in various shipyards. These reefers were built for Maritime Fruit Carriers Co. an Israeli controlled company, which went under in the 1970's. Most of their British built reefers went to Cunard. In fact there were two groups of ships. Teeside Clipper was from one group, which had Clipper names. The other group were the so-called 'Flower' ships like exw Iris Queen later Scythia of Cunard. Many former Maritime Fruit Carriers Co. went to Chile as well.
