Description:

US Navy Arleigh Burke Class Flight IIA AEGIS equipped destroyer (she is actually the first Flight IIA).
She was commissioned in 2000 and weighs 9200 tons. She has draft of 31 feet and a top speed of over 30 knots.
She is armed with 2 Vertical Launch Missile Groups (total of 96 cells) that can carry SM-2 & SM-6 Medium/Long Range Surface to Air Missiles, SM-6 Anti Ballistic Missiles, Evolved Sea Sparrow short range Surface to Air Missiles, Tomahawk Land Attack Cruise Missiles, Long Range Anti Ship Missiles and VL-Asroc Anti Submarine Rockets. Also has a 5" gun, two 20mm Phalanx Close in weapon system, 25mm and 0.50 cal machine guns, and 12.75" ASW Torpedos. Can carry up to 2 MH-60 Helicopters or UAVs. Can also be fitted with Harpoon Anti Ship Missiles if is ever needed.
See is departing Norfolk Naval Station going east past Fort Monroe Hampton VA. She was one of eight destroyers that sortied that day in support of the Composite Unit & Joint Task Force exercise for the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) Carrier Strike Group.
