Description:
Meridianas Cofe-bar Klaipeda Lithuania
The behemoth in the Danės river is a short lesson on reparations and entrepenueship. First built in 1948 the Meridianas was originally owned by the Finns and was used by their naval navigation school. The ship was turned over to the Soviets as reparation for World War II. Once iron boats replaced wodden vessels the ship was placed into retirement as a restaurant along the river. Over the years the ship deteriorated. A few years ago an upstart lawyer, Artūras Žičkus bought it for one litas. Besides renovations, the new owner smartly dressed the ship with sails provided by the Švyturys beer company.
