The SD14 cargo vessel Colossus arriving Napier 35 years ago on Friday 5.2.82 on the first of three visits loading wool and woodpulp for China. She was launched 8.3.73 as Cluden by Austin & Pickersgill from their South Dock yard, but sold during fitting out and completed as Transvaal for German owners. After several years sailing as Merlion, she was acquired in 1980 by Wah Tung Shipping Agency, Hong Kong and renamed Colossus. In 1988 she was sold and renamed Crystal, then Ocean Crown in 1994, Rich Assent in 1998 and finally New Moon in 2001. On 24.2.03, she arrived at Jiangyin for demolition by Chinese shipbreakers.
