Description:
The "Liberty ship" KOSTIS is seen passing Portishead, outbound from Avonmouth on the evening of 8th June 1967 for Dublin after discharging a part cargo of grain from South America. Unfortunately, one year later, on 3rd June 1968, early into a voyage from Sfax to China with a cargo of phosphate rock, KOSTIS suffered a fire, was abandoned, grounded and declared a “constructive total loss”.
Delivered by Tood-Houston in 1944 as ANNA.H BRANCH and operated by the Norwegian owners Lorentzen from 1947 to 1955, she had traded as KOSTIS for the “London Greek” Laimos Brothers since 1955.
