Description:

US Coast Guard sail training ship going west past Fort Monroe Hampton VA towards Norfolk VA for Harbor Fest 2017.
She was built in 1936 for the Germans as the HORST WESSEL. Taken as a war prize, she has been operated by the USCG since 1946.
She weighs nearly 1800 tons, has a crew of 80 plus 150 cadets, and can go 19 knots on sails.
As she was going by, her cadets were taking down the sails and you can see cadets on the rigging if you look closely. Very interesting to watch.
