Yes, small cable car attaches to a regular tram car on the steep section of the line; on my photo there are two tracks on this normally single track line, used for bypassing of cars moving in different direction.

Vlado,, when you've mentioned for Trieste town that "the town provides nice backdrop", I see at the top frame towards the right side of this photo, a pair (actually, 2 pairs) of railway tracks on the rather steep hill.... I am wondering, how is it possible for a train to run on such a slope !? and where does that railway track go down below: into the trees ?? (lol)

..... yes indeed, Vlado,after Trieste MSC BERYL was at Rijeka:
Arrival on 03/07/2017 at 01:51 hours LT;
Departure on 04/07/2017 at 00:11 hours LT;
(no photos at this occasion by me!!)

And I must also herewith say, that this is a superb photo of her, Vlado.... I really enjoy looking at it!
