I am trying to identify the port for the purpose of an article. Together with the third mate, who was onboard on that very dramatic voy. to Resolute Bay early 1970. It seems like he posted the photo himself - or somebody did it and just mentioned his name. (Kurt Kehler). I would have thought it was in New York - up Hudson River, just south of the liner piers around 90-94. There is a widely circulating photo all a number of the great ones - and with the Independence lying southmost - on the northside of a pier. So the Thora Dan could have been just on the soutside of that pier, but others say cargo ships did not go to that part of NYC. The Thora Dan HAD been to NYC just befor the London - Resolute Bay voy.
