P. & O.'s brand new 21.5 knot steam turbine powered containership MORETON BAY was photographed in the River Elbe on 17th June 1969 passing Brunsbüttel outbound from Hamburg for UK/Continental ports concluding with Antwerp to load for Fremantle. A sign of things to come, she had been delivered by Blohm & Voss just four days earlier.

In 1980 her ownership was transferred to OCL and in 1981 she was re-engined to diesel
