Description:

Italian passengervessel EUGENIO C. is here seen outward bound at Elbe Estuary in august 1981. She was built 1966 at Monfalcone for Costa Armatori, and had a gross tonnage of 30567. Later names: 1987 EUGENIO COSTA, 1997 EDINBURGH CASTLE, 2000 THE BIG RED BOAT II, 2004 RED BOAT, 2005 BIG RED BOAT II. Broken up at Alang, India in june 2005.

Great shot. EUGENIO C. and OCEANIC had very similar hulls, all by the famous Nicolo Constanzi.

Yes, I agree, she was a real beauty. Italians designed and built some very handsome ships in the sixties, like GUGLIELMO MARCONI, OCEANIC, RAFFAELLO, MICHELANGELO and a few more

One of the most beautiful vessels I have ever seen. Perhaps, she could have been preserved as a symbol of Italian Merchant Marine, lyke is the "Rotterdam" in Netherlands for example. Sad to say, this was not the case.
