Description:
US Navy Whidbey Island Class (class leader) Landing Ship Dock tied up at the Marine Hydraulics Shipyard along the Elizabeth River in Norfolk VA.
The rear of the ship is flood able with a well that can take up to 4 LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushions), she also carries approx. 400-500 troops, their equipment, and has a landing deck that can accommodate all current and plane US Helicopters.
She is named for Whidbey Island in Washington State that is home of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.
