Description:

Floating crane AGIOS GERASIMOS (Registered at Piraeus, of. no 2355) at ELTHOM Shipyard, Perama, 28/09/2019.

I think that the hull looks like it came from an older ship. What is your opinion about that ???

Thanks Nektarios for finding the story.

I would use it for our convenience, as the explanation is here (strictly speaking the IMO would only stick officially if it was the engine-room section that survived, I think).

Information from the official Greek registry reports she was built from the remains of the hull of the Bulgarian cargo ship CHRISTO SMIRNENSKY (IMO 5071963). Have a look here :
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1166100
Registered at Piraeus (off. no 2355 - Barges Registry) 19-12-1984. 136 gt, 23,4 m X 13,3 m.

And a question for the admins. In cases like this, do we use the IMO of the original vessel for the resulting build (if there isn't a new IMO) or do we leave it blank ? I know IMO gets deleted if the ship is broken up but it would be easier if we used the old IMO to group the photos... What do you think ?

I think you are correct George, probably a converted hull from another vessel. Built 1981 (conversion or original date ?) 145,003 gt, 23,44 m length. I will check to find out more abour her, she looks interesting !
