ORP "Gen. T. Ko?ciuszko” is a missile frigate whose main tasks include: searching, detecting and combating submarines, combating air and surface targets, as well as protecting sea communication routes and conducting anti-terrorist operations.
The hull of the ship is 135.6 meters long overall, and 125.9 meters at the waterline, the largest width of the ship is 13.7 meters, the draft of the hull itself is 5.8 meters, and with the sonar skirt, the draft is 7.5 meters. The unit with a displacement of 3,450 standard tons has a full displacement of 3,950 tons[7]. The ship is propelled by a power plant equipped with two General Electric LM2500 gas turbines providing an output power of 41,000 hp to a single propeller shaft, transmitting power to a five-blade propeller. The power plant configured in this way nominally provides a speed of 29 knots[8]. The ship is also equipped with an auxiliary propulsion system in the form of two retractable ABB electric propellers with a total power of 720 hp[7]. The ship's auxiliary propulsion is used for precise maneuvers of the vessel, however, it is capable of ensuring the ship's ability to return to port at a speed of 5 knots in the event of a main propulsion failure. The propulsion and energy system of the ship is supplemented by four diesel electric generators with a power of 1000 kW each [8].
