Description:
Tug 'Melbourne' ex 'Howard Smith' alongside the north face of Central Pier, Victoria Dock some time in 1973 after being raised.
Renamed ' Melbourne' in 1969 to free up the name for Howard Smith's new ore/oil ship ex 'Hoegh Helm'.
1972 sank after collision with Nieuw Holland off Melbourne 9.8.72, subsequently raised.
1973 sold to Engwirda Salvage Pty Ltd., AUS Melbourne. Same name.
January 1979 scuttled in Moreton Bay

As I recall she was girded while working with Nieuw Holland with the loss of quite a number of her crew.
The salvors eventually towed her north with the intention of putting her back into service somewhere but not unsuprisingly that plan fell through and so she was scuttled.
