Cristoffersen had the boat built after his original boat, the Christine, was destroyed in the
1964 Great Alaskan Earthquake and tsunami;
like hundreds of other Alaskan fishermen who lost their boats to the tsunamis,
he took advantage of a Federal disaster relief loan program to finance the construction of
the Thelma C, named after his wife;

Kodiak Maritime Museum Interpretive Project;
last/third owner, Mark Thomas, donated the vessel to the museum;
