El BREGA was one of two sisters, the other one being RAS LANUF, another Libyan oil export terminal. She was delivered by the NKK Tsurumi yard (#912) With 88000 DWT she fell in the Aframax range which had just become rather popular via the Sanko Deal.
When Libyan oil became less fashionable in Western Europe the ships started to be neglected and by 1999 the ship was sold to Gadani breakers as TANKER 3.
