Built by Hitachi in 1980 (#4649)the French flagged Total tanker EOLE is shown here at the Maasvlakte Oilterminal in the mid eighties.
She was originally built for the account of N.J. Goulandris and delivered as IONIA. She was one of the first generation SBT tankers, but without a double hull.
Total took over the ship in 1983. In 1988 she was reflagged and renamed ALTUS but still under Total control.

In 1995 she became MONTROSE and in 2004 MONTE VERDE.
She was broken up in January 2007 at Gadani Beach, after having been renamed SHANTI, no doubt with only a voyage to the breakers as her only employment.
