Description:
The 1943 Delta, New Orleans built Z-ET1-S-C3 type Liberty tanker ZOE, which had been converted to dry cargo in 1949, is seen at Durban, probably soon after arriving on 7th December 1964 from Savannah. On 16th July 1965, during a voyage from Tampa to Rio Grande via Chimbote with a cargo of salt, ZOE hit a submerged object. She arrived at Rio Grande the following day but was sold for breaking at Porto Alegre. ZOE was operated from New York by Sphere Ship Operators (Harry Stavraka).
