Description:
The former MATSONIA with all her markings painted-out and preparing for the tow to her Brownsville scrapyard. That's the bow of the museum ship former USS HORNET (CV 12) hanging over her. When built, the MATSONIA and sisters had a mostly flush deck and were referred to as the "Aircraft Carriers." Included in the several variants of this class was the ill--fated EL FARO.
