Pemulwuy is one of six members of the first Emerald class, built in Hobart by Incat and used very successfully on inner harbour services, Balmoral is one of three second generation Emerald class ferries built in China last year for the service between Circular Quay and Manly, but proving unable to cope with the sea conditions met when crossing Sydney Heads.
