Description:

Sister ship to FEDERAL DANUBE posted earlier, her career and ownership history was almost the same. Built by Cockerill and delivered in 1981 (#894), and built to a hull design optimised to make use of the Lake system in the US and Canada, her employment was not restricted to Great Lakes use only, and she traded overseas as shown here in this picture, from the early eighties. Lloyds does not mention any specific date when she was converted (or confined) to Lake use only, but I think we may assume that since her take over by CSL and renaming to MAPLEGLEN, she was no longer employed in international trade. Her final ocean crossing came in 2015, when she was delivered to breakers in Turkey.
