WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
One of the more popular names among shipspotters, but apart from that she was simply a Neptun 421 standard design (and launched as Pasewalk). After the fall of the wall, the first three words of her name were dropped, but she managed to keep trading until 2009, when she was scrapped in India as Loretta D. She probably orbited the globe more times than the guy she was named after.
Former name(s):
- Sigmund Jahn (Until 1997)
- Fliegerkosmonaut Der Ddr Sigmund Jahn (Until 1990 Sep)

COMMENT THIS PHOTO(2)
Shipowners in the countries of the communist bloc competed in giving ships names that were unpronounceable by foreigners. I remember the situation with the ship on which I worked and the operator of the SALERNO Harbor Master's Office. The ship was named KOPALNIA MOSZCZENICA. After many attempts to pronounce the second part of the name, she gave up. We have been called KOPULONIA.
