Description:
The 1926 Norwegian (Akers, Oslo) built whaler "POL 3" , making service as patrol ship, made the first fights with the German Naval fleet, heading for Oslo late in the evening of April 8th, 1940. "Pol 3" managed to report enemy war ships penetrating but captain Welding Olsen died, as the first Norwegian in the German invasion of Norway 1940. "Pol 3" later changed business, and was BU in 2011. The bow section was rescued and today is a war memoraial at Torås fortress, South of Tønsberg, in the Oslofjord.
