Description:
The 1953 Kiel built AVRA, managed from New York by Tidal Marine International Corp. (Harry Amanatides & Ion Livas), passing Portishead outbound from Avonmouth for Swansea exactly fifty years ago today, on 26th April 1973. She had discharged at Avonmouth a cargo of animal feedstuffs loaded at Karachi. During the first stage of the voyage, to Durban for bunkers, she suffered a collision.
At Swansea, she was repaired in drydock and sold, sailing in June as GOLDEN QUEEN, but she was soon sold for scrap, arriving at Kaohsiung on 7 December 1973 for that purpose.
