KANGIQSUJUAQ
Nunavik, Nord-du-Québec, Quebec, Canada
Kangiqsujuaq ??????? is a northern Inuit community in Nunavik, Nord-du-Québec, Quebec, Canada. It had a population of 750 in the Canada 2016 Census. The community has also been known as Wakeham Bay.
It is located on the Ungava Peninsula and it is served by the small Kangiqsujuaq Airport.
During winter, when the tides are extremely low and the moon is full, the Inuit climb beneath the ice to gather mussels. Incredible knowledge is needed to know how to break holes in the ice and crawl along the sea bed and collect this food.
Kangiqsujuaq is sometimes spelled Kangirsujuaq.
