I was on this ship when it was the Allison Lykes. At that time it was on the run from the US East Coast to the West Coast of South America. Lykes operated three of these ships because, at that time, the ports along the West Coast of South America did not have container cranes and these ships carried their own container cranes. The ship went through many owners, many names and many changes. Originally it was the Mormacega, then the American Vega, then the Allison Lykes. In addition, it was jumboized and converted from a breakbulk cargo ship into a self-unloading container ship. However, it still retained staterooms for 8 paying passengers, which were booked up when I was on it.
