Description:
RESILIENT LADY seen at No. 7 Berth in Burnie, Tasmania, Australia. 30/12/2023
RESILIENT LADY has included Tasmania on her cruise itinerary since December 2023. Her two ports of call in Tasmania are the cities Hobart and Burnie.
Since 1999, the Port of Burnie has been accommodating cruise ships. Burnie is now a popular destination with more than 30 ships calling into the port per cruise season.
RESILIENT LADY features a vertical bow form that maximizes efficiency by reducing wave resistance and wave slamming in rough seas. A bulbous bow is present below the waterline, but now in the form of a side bulge - as opposed to the typical forward protruding bulb. The side bulge design appears to be a throwback to the predecessor of the bulbous bow ( known as the “bulbous forefoot” ) that was implemented on several ocean liners built between the late 1920’s and 50’s. Examples being SS MALOLO, SS BREMEN, SS NORMANDIE, SS FRANCE, etc.
