Description:
Herring trawler seen moored along the waterfront of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Originally built as an Offshore Supply Vessel, and later converted into a survey vessel, she underwent an extensive rebuild in the mid-2000's at Bayou La Batre, Alabama to be used for fisheries. Under her earlier identities, she had not been flagged in the United States, explaining the issue of a relatively new US Official Number.
On another note, at the time of my photo, the "CR" on the bow stood for Carlos Rafael, the infamous "Codfather" of New Bedford. After he went to trial for his efforts at monopolizing and manipulating New England fisheries, the vessel was auctioned off.
