Description:

Lamport & Holt's RAEBURN is seen in the River Mersey departing from Gladstone lock, transporting to Langton lock, exactly fifty years ago today, on 23rd March 1974.

Built in 1957 by Caledon at Dundee as the refrigerated cargo liner CANADIAN STAR for Blue Star Line, she had only just been transferred within the Vestey Group to Lamport & Holt.

Early in 1979 she was amusingly renamed BRAEBURN for her final voyage to Chittagong and then on to Kaohsiung where she arrived on 20.4.79 for breaking.
