You was not alone to follow this ship as we can see a drone in the NW corner of the photo.

thanks for the comment and well spotted, i only noticed the drone when processing the photo.
The ship was stranded at Knutsford road swing bridge, she was no more than 50 feet from the bridge, i beleive she had her anchors down, i did not notice that as it was very bright and looking in to the sun.
The infrastructure in the top end of the canal above Runcorn is in a terrible state, constant swing bridge failures and lock failures.

Sad to see a so busy place in the past times, now less frequented.
A canal which had its specially built ships, fitted with 70 feet gabarit masts for the bridges.
