Description:
Elder Dempster Lines' 1960 Scotts', Greenock, built DUNKWA arriving at Liverpool exactly fifty years ago today, on 19th May 1974, to load cargo for Dakar and Banjul.
On 20th July 1980 the DUNKWA sailed from Antwerp for Calcutta and from there on to Singapore where she arrived on 3rd October and was sold to Diamantides Maritime of Piraeus, also the buyer from Elder Dempster of DALLA, renamed MARMARAS.
She subsequently loaded cargo at Rangoon, sailing as CLARE on 27th November bound for Rio de Janeiro where she arrived on 18th January 1981 after suffering engine trouble en route. Although reported sailing from Rio on 3rd February bound for Durban, it seems that she remained in port, being renamed RESOLVE in 1982. She eventually loaded a cargo at Recife, sailing on 26th November for Toamasina via Port Elizabeth and from there on to Pakistan for breaking. She was beached at Gadani Beach on 28th March 1983
