By the time this photo was taken, the 1,400 bhp/240 rpm, five-cylinder, two-stroke, Newbury Diesel Type "P" Mk 2 main engine you worked on had (in 1975) been replaced by a 12-cylinder, four-stroke, Mirrlees-Blackstone EUSL12 of 1,500 hp at 900 rpm. Everard re-engined quite a few Newbury-powered ships in the fleet. Bob

I have fond memories of this ship I sailed as 4 th Engineer on her for 2 years that was from 1966 to 1968 the Chief Engineer was Mr T J Catherall a real gentleman the Second Engineer was Mr Owen Williams and the Third Engineer was Mr Bobby Creggie both great guys they were great days we were on the Baltic run at that time Sweden Finland and Norway with Bales of paper pulp to Bowaters on the Thames. Just for the record she was powered by a 5 cyl Newbury Diesel the generators were also Newbury diesels Thanks for the posting I have some photos I will dig out. Sam x 4 th Engineer
