Great work Kent, sounds like time for a spot of dredging on the Seaway?

Hi Kent - Both the Fednav website and Know Your Ships list it as a bulker. I would have guessed general cargo. As you no doubt know, it is one of the Chinese built ships chartered by Fednav beginning this year. Fednav says built in 2000, KYS says built in 1999, have not checked any further.

Do you know what exactly it hit to cause the engine room flooding?

I am amazed at the number of accidents on the Seaway this year. Are the pilots to blame?

Equassis classify it as a general cargo vessel, built in 2000, I don't believe the pilot is responsible for this one, she was in the right place when she hit the high spot, the spot could be silting, or low water in the system, the vessel took a sheer to the right and holed herself, it seems to me she was able to keep the water out by pumping the bilges, she was at full seaway draft at the time. I did hear one pilot talking to the Seaway telling them he felt something at that same location, I don't recall what vessel it was, but it was lately.

Thanks for your report. Those vessel (I think 3) are multi-purpose general cargo type. They can carry all kinds of general cargo and bulk. Fednav have bought them back last year and used them to carry bulk cargo mainly...

Do not blame pilots only; too fast!
Maintenance dredging and low water levels are most likely at stakes now, with governement agencies and infrastructure money thightening!

Thanks Tomas, I did not know what type of vessel she was I still don't know I will have to look it up, her cranes look like she could be a heavy lift vessel.
