In the morning of Oct 4 2009 she was in collision with the Malta flagged bulk carrier "Santana", 52071 dwt (IMO-No.: 9237101). The accident happened in the Aegean Sea southeast of Mykonos, near Amorgos, in calm weather. The "Captain Michalis", which carried a cargo of cement, sank within a few minutes, one Greek crew man died. His body was recovered later. A good Samaritan rescued the other eight crew members.
