Formerly the troop transport USNS Barrett (T-AP-196). She was originally laid down ion 1949 for American President Lines as the passenger liner President Jackson, but was acquired by the Navy in 1952 and converted into a troop ship for use during the Korean War. In 1974 she was converted into a training ship for the State University of New York Maritime College and renamed Empire State V. She was laid up in 1990 and finally scrapped in 2007.
