Description:

The QUEEN OF AMPELOS (Ex PENCHATEAU, built in 1960 at "Le Trait", France) arrived in Bayonne at the end of 1976, but stayed there 17 months! She stayed berthed near the town hall. Today, no ship can go that far in the city, since the building of the Grenet bridge, downstream. The photo was taken a few months before the ship finally left the port, May 21, 1978. SHe was broken up in Alang in May 1990. In the background, we see the small reefer DONIBANE (IMO 5374406), built as URSULA HORN in 1959 in Neuenfelde. She became URSULA H. in 1960, URSULA HORN again in 1960, ATLANTIC in 1969, DONIBANE in 1972, French Flag and Home port Bayonne, URSULA in 1982, SOCOMAR in 1987. She has been broken up in San Esteban de Pravia during August 1989.
