Dear Malcolm, I really havent thought about Dimitris Agoudimos' house flag "HA", but it could well stand for Hnomena Adelfia...However, Gerassimos' houseflag is more simple with a "GA" standing for Gerassimos Agoudimos. See the bulker "AGIOS GERASSIMOS" )built 1960s for stavros livanos in Hakodate as well for the danish built bulker ALEKOS AGOUDIMOS. Really nice ships that have passed through the hands of the Agoudimos'.

Thanks for the Agoudimos information, Acrop. As you will doubtless know, the letters HA on the Flandermar and Flanmare ships' funnels are an abbreviation of “Hnomena Adelfia” or “United Brothers”. best regards. Malcolm Cranfield.

Malcolm, the Agoudimos family consists of two brothers, Gerassimos and Dimitrios. Gerassimos owned the Bananeira Investment Trust, owning overage bulk carriers and Dimitris still owns Flandermar in Priraeus.

Thank you Acrop for the information on Thrassyvoulos Voyazides and his companies especially as I have a special interest in Greek shipping concerns. I have recently written an article on the Agoudimos group which will be published in the May 2014 edition of "Ships Monthly" magazine and plan to research some other Greek companies when time permits.

best regards. Malcolm Cranfield

Malcolm, the ATTICOS that you found scrapped in 2011 is a hakodate 27k dwt bulker built by Voyazides in 1975. And indeed kept with the company for 35 years.

She was bought by the late Thrassyvoulos Voyazides (passed away in 2001, working till the last day of his life). He then named by the same name ATTIKOS one of his newbuilding laker bulker ex Hakodate, in 1975, which he kept for 30 ish years. His company still going strong with offices in Greece, Capital Management Services. He is survived by his son Leonidas and daughter Alexandra, who owns her own shipping company, Alexandria Shipping S.A, in Athens, running some five bulkers.

Thank you Gentlemen - I find that the bulker ATTICOS (IMO 7525970) had sadly arrived at Xinhui on 10th August 2011 for breaking after 35 years' service with the same owner, which is indeed remarkable.

Hi Marce

Her registered owner was Voleon Nav Co Ltd, Famagusta, part of the fleet of the Greek shipowner Thrasybule Voyazides. Fine shot Malcolm.

Simon

Is anybody able to imform which is te name of the company which shows that "B" on the funnel ? An ancient bulk carrier also called "Atticos" and with the same funnel livery used to call in South American ports until a couple of years ago. ( She used to cover the Argentina - Brasil line and perhaps she still exists.) Rgds
